My definition of success has evolved from keeping going, quietly listening, showing up, burning out, getting up,falling down, divorce, self discovery, failure, creating and filling new spaces, keeping going.
Psychological safety is the biggest indicator of high-performing teams. It’s not so much the what we do that makes us successful. It’s the why— and the safety to be frank. I’d say that applies to intimate relationships, too. Goals include understanding over feeling understood.
After a period of harassment and burnout at work, coupled with the dissolution of my marriage, I found myself reevaluating success and a rediscovery of self. I prioritize continued learning, mindfulness, and movement to grow professionally. As a woman in today’s world, the liberation that comes with age empowers me to find and refine what truly matters.
My cultural background as a Third-Culture kid influences my approach to life, finding balance between care, attention, and empathy. In my home of Hokkaido, the Northern most island of Japan, I find solace in a reverence for nature and interconnectedness. Daily self-care includes meditation, movement, walks with my imaginary dog, and gratitude. Maintaining a positive mindset and resilience is grounded in gratitude and mindfulness.
These days, the most luxurious thing I have is time for myself. Centering myself in my world. I explore hidden gems and build communities of women everywhere I can. Excitement for the future lies in personal growth, evolving relationships, and an ongoing understanding of our relationship to technologies.
